Sacramental Preparation for Eucharist & Reconciliation (and Baptism through RCIA)

Children generally are prepared for their first confession and first Holy Communion in RE Grade 2 (children in school grades 2 & 3), after completing RE Grade 1 (children in school grades 1 & 2).

If your child begins his/her religious instruction when they are school grades 3 and up:

  • Baptized children & teens will enroll in their grade-appropriate classes (for example, if your son is in school grade 6, he would be in RE grade 6 as well). During their second year, the children & parents will attend special events as they prepare to receive the sacraments. And they would then continue in our program through Confirmation prep in Grade 8 or high school.
  • Children age 8+ who are not yet baptized will be part of our RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) Adapted for Children program. With their parents and catechists, they attend 9am Mass and then meet for class. In the spring of their second year, or when they are ready, they will be fully initiated into the Church at the Easter Vigil (Baptism, Confirmation & Holy Communion).
